Safe and Sound

Hi everyone, I've made it! After at least 12 hours of travel that I would normally have spent sleeping, I'm at the field station. En route I managed to rendezvouz with my friend Ally (in SFO) and my uncle Steve (in Houston), and to chat with varied friends via the phone. (Sorry MK and Becky, I ran out of batteries!)

Everything I've seen so far of Costa Rica is AMAZING. It's all incredibly beautiful and lush, with plants and flowers everywhere of all shapes, colors, and sizes. Including tons of bougainvillea, my favorite. S0 far I can say I have 3 roommates, cold showers, and delicious food--giant bowl of guacamole, anyone? Everyone is friendly, thought it's quite an effort to pretend I'm interested in everything they're saying when I just want to go to bed.

I'll write more later, when I get a chance. The internet here is slow, and we're not allowed to use the station's connection to load photos or use Skype. So those things will have to be done at internet cafe's at some indetermined time. But they will be done! I'd love to hear how all of you are, so send me an email!
